Newport - Student View

Based on two campuses: one in Allt-yr-yn, a pleasant residential area of town, a short walk from main railway station (engineering, computing, business, health and social care); other a few miles up river Usk in picturesque and historic town of Caerleon (art and design, education, humanities, science, media).

Student accommodation at Caerleon is modern and ensuite. Free bus service between campuses. Roots go back to 1841 (the first Mechanics Institute in town) and involved in higher education for 80+ years.

Newport is conveniently located on M4 and first major city in Wales after crossing the River Severn; excellent rail links and less than an hour from airports at Cardiff and Bristol. Yet some of the most beautiful and spectacular countryside is just on the doorstep (Brecon Beacons).

Dubbed the new Seattle due to thriving music scene. Close links with local community and more than half students are part-time, allowing them to combine their studies with family, work or other commitments.

Students come from most parts of the UK and more than 40 other countries (eg Asia, Japan). Courses are modern, challenging and relevant to the needs of industry, commerce and teacher training - a fact reflected in record of employment success.
