Housing: Students live in university accommodation for 2-3 years. Accommodation officer and SU noticeboards help find private local rooms.

Eats: Meals £2 on campus. Good local eats at The Ship, Goldcroft, Drapers, The Hanbury (£5).

Drink: SU bar (£1.80 pint). Good local brew, Samuel Smith, cheap local pubs Le Pub and The Murrenger.

Nightlife: Fun SU ents and local clubs. Local bands on campus and recently Van Morrison, Jools Holland. Recommended club, Walkabout.

Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition fees) is £5500.

Locals: Friendly.

Best feature: Community atmosphere.

And worst: Parking facilities

Good news: New all-singing, all-dancing sports centre, state-of-the-art music venue and conference facility.
