Wolverhampton University - Student View

It's based on 3 main sites, City campus is the largest in the centre of the city. Others include Walsall and Telford. Free university buses between sites (but not always on time). Developments at city campus make the place look much nicer, especially the library with a big computer facility. New buildings at Walsall include sports centre.

Courses are pretty good and workload reasonable; modular scheme lets you combine areas of study from across the board. Number of international students from Europe and beyond, so it's culturally rich; also a fair number of mature students. Staff quite approachable; support services help if you are having difficulties.

Students' Union is very active socially, with lots of sports teams, interesting societies, 3 large bars for the 3 main campuses and a club on City campus, Zone 34. Freshers' week is a massive blow-out of fun; and variety of entertainments throughout the year. Good advice and support centre, with great array of academic, housing and financial support networks and information.

Accommodation is self-catering and most is reasonable (depends on which set of halls you end up in); some is ensuite, all have shared kitchens. It's not too expensive compared to national average, but your belongings may not be too safe in some of the older halls (although security recently been improved). Loads of private accommodation and the SU and university accredit certain properties to make sure they are decent and filter out any dodgy landlords in the area.
