Housing: Very good on campus, £50-£80 per week. Private housing found through noticeboards and university's PLU scheme, prices £40-£60 pw. Eats: Meals on campus from £1.50. Takeaway food, baguettes, bistro-style meals in union; university cafeteria.

Drink: Cheap bars on campus (£1.80 a pint in SU bars). Annual real ale festival. Nightlife: Top notch student ents 7 nights a week; cheap student cinema; several nightclubs in SU; bands include Ash, Scissor Sisters, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Electric 6, Bowling for Soup, Jools Holland. Student discount at huge Warwick Arts Centre on campus.

Locals: Hard to say; most students socialise on campus, which is very safe.

Sports: 2 university-run sports centres, including swimming pool and athletics track.

Travel: 85p to Coventry, £1.70 to Leamington; travel pass £67-£72 a term. Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition fees) is £5262.

Financial help: Very good and understanding: uni works alongside SU advice and welfare department.

Jobs: Union employs 250 students across its outlets; pay from £4.22/hr. Some work out of term time, eg conference work through union and university.

Best features: Top academic reputation; high level of participation in sports clubs and societies: one of the best SUs.

And worst: A bit insular, university focused on making money.

Good news: Major building works; exciting plans for future development. All rooms connected to internet.

Bad news: Introduction of top-up tees (£3000 on all courses from 2006).
