Housing: 2000+ self-catering flats on campus from £55 per week; more for the award-winning ensuite Lakeside residences. Help in finding cheap accommodation in city from student advice centre and university accommodation office.
Eats: Excellent, cheap food in the Guild, chips to veggie meals.
Drink: Regular Guild drinks promos: many drinks £1 on Weds nights, otherwise most pints £1.60.
Nightlife: 3 late Guild events weekly, eg Pounded, School Daze, LUSH and Freakers Ball (getting dressed up in your sexual fantasy). Student nights in city, some major clubs eg Works, Risa and Academy. Lively gay and LGB scene.
Sports: 2 sports centres on campus, swimming pool, fitness facilities, sports hall and all-weather sports surface (for football, tennis, hockey and lacrosse) plus a grass sporting facility a short distance from campus.
Travel: Number of bus routes from campus into town and other student areas (student bus pass good value). 3 train stations 10-minute walk from campus. Student travel company a few metres from campus.
Financial help: Grants and loans for students in serious financial need - contact student advice centre in Guild.
Jobs: Guild Jobshop for all kinds eg bar work, shop and telesales, flyering, on and off campus. Jobs in Guild £5.35 per hour (better than most local pubs).
Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition fees) is £4000.
Best features: Excellent atmosphere; everyone knows everyone and very easy to make friends.
And worst: So much to do on campus and in city, a nightmare getting down to study!
