Main campus is in Middlesbrough town centre but a growing number of partnership courses at external colleges.
Over 1000 students in halls of residence (majority home students); many others live in reasonably priced accommodation in university head-tenancy scheme.
Number of mature students is increasing, partly because of the diversity of courses and availability of partnership courses. Relatively easy to change course in first term; tutors helpful.
Learning resource centre, next to SU building, has library and computer facilities.
SU (nominated as union of the year this year) prides itself on wide range of facilities, including advice centre, union shop, activities and skills centre, over 40 clubs and 20 societies and student job centre.
Lively SU bar, The Terrace Bar, holds 620 students, has outdoor area and free entertainment all week; extensive menu (vegetarian, healthy eating), range of coffees, big-screen for sports, pool and video games. Club One, the SU 1000-capacity club, provides entertainment to suit all tastes every weekend, comedy and film nights midweek.
