Attractive and lively city, close to beautiful northumbrian countryside and east coast. Very accessible by train (3 hours to London); excellent local bus and metro services, going all over Newcastle, with CCTV at all metro stations for extra safety.
Recently ranked number one tourist city in England and one of the world's best party cities. Nights out are buzzing with atmosphere, offering everything from wild nights in the Bigg Market, to a touch of class by the Quayside.
Excellent student discounts throughout the week in most bars. Variety of clubs with great drinks promos throughout the week - student night every night! SU is excellent in terms of entertainment, offering a fantastic line-up of DJs, bands and cheap bars (7 in all!). Weekly club night, Solution, is often a sell-out, as is termly all-nighter, Arcane. Telewest arena attracts all the big names from the music world and many pubs and cafes host up-and-coming bands.
2 multiplex cinemas and 4 theatre venues in city centre, as well as numerous art galleries, showing works of national, local and student artists. University offers a broad spectrum of courses, with high teaching standards.
It's quite easy to change courses up to the third week of the first semester (with agreement of heads of schools). Students from many different backgrounds including many international students from over 100 different countries.
Holds an enviable reputation across a wide range of sporting activities, with very good provision and support.
