Housing: Uni accommodation for 1 year, then student digs which are easily found. Rent £35-£45 pw; marginally lower in Stoke than Stafford.

Eats: £1.20 for sandwiches on campus, £3 for meal. Plenty of takeaway options at good price. Locally multiple Balti houses, Italians, pubs.

Drink: Union bar, beer from £1.40 a pint. Good, cheap bars and clubs in Stoke, fewer in Stafford (but it's only half an hour by car to Stoke).

Nightlife: Good range of events in union. Local clubs incl Liquid, Colleseum.

Sports: University sports centre with astroturf pitches, gym, sports hall and a local swimming pool; comprehensive sports clubs.

Travel: Good access. Stoke site right next to station. Easy to get to London; Manchester and Birmingham under 1 hour. Inter-site transport available.

Financial help: Some access funds; few SU loans.

Jobs: 10-15% of students work in pubs, cinemas, union during term time. Union job-board on main sites and Workbank run by university.

Best features: Location.

And worst: The rainy weather!
