Harper Adams University College - Student View
Set in the Shropshire countryside, it's the largest specialist land-based and food college in the UK.
Harper awards its own degrees and runs more than 70 established courses. It's relatively easy to change course in the first year (semester 1 designed to allow this). Life's hard and fast, you're here to work hard and play hard.
Always something to do with the usual student antics. Good range of sports and social clubs on offer (cricket, circuit training, lacrosse, rugby, football, hockey, netball, shooting, basketball, swimming, aerobics, Gaelic football, snooker, golf, drama society HAMS, Harper Ireland, Harper Cymru, the 4x4 club, music, Christian Union etc). The main teams are in BUSA league - rugby and shooting particularly successful. Chief rivals, Cirencester.
Huge student bar extended to cater for all needs. Rag team organises fund-raising evenings for eg guide dogs for the blind, cancer research. Wednesday is big night (live band, disco or both), also Christmas ball, Paddies night, rag ball, summer ball. Great entertainment and never, ever lose your sense of humour.
Unique Student Union, campus atmosphere, the envy of many: lively, active, always on hand with entertainment, information and to lend an ear to those who need one. It also provides funding for clubs and societies, so all students get the most out of their time here.
