St Peter's - Student View
It's in the centre of Oxford - just off the major pedestrianised shopping area and at the heart of the town's many restaurants and coffee shops. The college is a small collection of buildings that includes the ancient New Inn Hall, St Peter's Chapel and a modern lodge in Linton House, complete with famed automatic doors.
The friendly atmosphere ensures a busy social life to accompany the studious side of life. Students changing courses usually do so after 1st year exams. The college library is open 24 hours, all rooms have free ethernet connections.
A hectic social calendar is organised by the JCR including guest nights, fortnightly bops (discos) and an annual arts festival. The bar, complete with a well-lit and heated patio, boasts cheap beer and termly theme nights. JCR has digital TV, video, DVD, pool and football tables, photocopier, games and vending machines and newspapers - national and student - delivered daily.
The JCR also co-ordinates many societies in St Peter's, with many sports represented at all levels for men and women, including rowing, rugby, soccer, hockey, tennis, squash, badminton, athletics, netball, basketball, pool and darts. Drama and music are of an excellent standard with many performances throughout the year.
The college has an excellent welfare system, with regular welfare hours and an extensive peer support system. Students are also given good representation on college governing boards ensuring good relations between college authorities and students.
