Founded: 1624; women undergraduates first admitted 1979.
Admission: On basis of interview, school reports and tests in certain subjects (for pre A-level candidates, acceptance is conditional on A-level grades).
Scholarships: Awarded at the end of the first year, based on performance in public examination.
Study abroad: A few formal exchange links.
Travel grants: Limited funds available for small number of grants.
Library & information services: Working collection of about 30,000 books covering all subjects taught; closes at 2 am. Separate college IT service. All bedrooms have access to library services and internet. IT facilities open 24 hours/day; IT staff support 6 hours/week.
Eating arrangements: Breakfast and lunch (pay-as-you-eat), plus dinner each evening (formal 3 nights a week, 3 informal) in hall. JCR pantry for hot/cold snacks, drinks etc.
Gate/guest hours: No set hours. Other college facilities: Sports ground (1 mile from college), boathouse, bar, photographic darkroom, computer rooms.
Accommodation: All first years in college accommodation, 67% of all undergraduates. 280 places available: £12-£21 per day, dependent on size of room, term time only. Self-catering facilities are available. No first degree students live at home.
Term-time work: College does not normally allow term-time work (2% believed to work).
Financial help: Hardship grants offered to students in financial need.
