Lincoln - Student Life

Housing: College accommodation for all; cheap for Oxford, with rooms from excellent (incl self-catering houses) to fairly reasonable.

Eats: College food excellent and popular (breakfast approx £1, lunch £1.75+, dinner £3.75+); lunchtime snacks (£1+) in college bar. Usual range of snack bars, fast-food in city centre; meal for £6-£10 at Ask Tandoori Restaurant.

Drink: College bar subsidised, well-run with good selection; pint £1.60+.

Nightlife: Lively for a small college: bops, videos, cabarets, boat parties, themed evenings, black tie meals etc. Student clubs: Filth, The Bridge.

Locals: Can be unfriendly, but only if provoked.

Sports: Excellent multi-gym; good pavilion and playing fields. Increasingly successful sporting college, and it's all free, including boat club.

Travel: Good - travel grants easily available for holidays of some intellectual value.

Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition fees) is £4000+.

Financial help: Excellent provision. Generous help given.

Jobs: Some work (well paid) available in college in term and vacation.

Best features: Comfort; community.

And worst: Claustrophobia.
