Jesus - Student View
It's great! It occupies one of the most convenient locations of all the Oxford colleges. Located on Turl Street, with the Bodleian Library, Radcliffe Camera, two cinemas, Cornmarket, High Street and the Oxford Union all within two minutes' walk.
Small geographical size hides a large community with a genuinely open atmosphere; academic successes matched by sporting prowess, major involvement in all things 'arty', and a full and lively social scene. If Jesubites are sometimes accused of being slightly insular, then that's because they are truly happy with their lot.
College has top-class accommodation, offered to all years at affordable rents. Food is OK, very cheap, and works on a buffet system so you don't have to sign up for a load of meals at the start of each year.
Resources for sporting, musical and artistic activities are also top-notch, and funds exist to help us in all sorts of exciting (not only academic ...) pursuits.
Spanking new JCR is the centre of social activity for undergraduates - with free pool table, wide-screen TV, DVD, satellite and video and an LCD projector with pull-down giant screen.
Famous for its political apathy, JCR meetings are well attended and offer students the opportunity to have their say on the issues that affect them. College bar for socialising, drink at prices cheaper than most in town and JCR's weekly Friday night bops (and other JCR-organised events).
Close-knit community makes socialising easy and fun! Everybody knows everyone so there is always a friend available to go out on the town or just stay in and watch a movie with. A college for anyone looking for a friendly, relaxed home where they can do well academically, but have a life balanced by many other opportunities. Don't worry, they're not all Welsh!
Open days are run several times a year and visits can often be arranged at other times.
