Oxford Brookes University - Student View

It's based just one mile from Oxford city centre, a vibrant city boasting a student population of 40,000 with facilities and attractions for all. The main site houses the majority of teaching schools, main library, 24-hour access computer rooms, sports centre and main site of the Students' Union.

The main library holds some half a million texts and provides access to thousands of journals (on and off line), multimedia resources and past exam papers (final year and research students can also gain access to Oxford University's Bodleian Library).

The university sports centre has modern training and gym facilities (indoor and out) and around 30 successful sports clubs; university teams and individuals compete at an international standard at basketball, climbing, cricket, hockey, rowing and rugby.

SU has many facilities for students' use and aims to give the best experience possible for all students: it provides representation for students, gives them support for any issues from academic guidance to accommodation advice; a successful Jobshop and volunteering centre; and over 60 student-led societies, from Christian Union to alternative rock. It also operates 3 shops and 5 bars across all campuses and a 1200 capacity nightclub.

Two satellite campuses on the outskirts of Oxford house the business school, Westminster Institute of Education and parts of the school of technology. Each satellite campus has halls of residences, a library, computer rooms and SU bar; all campuses linked by regular Brookes Buses (which also run into town, out to Bicester village, a large outlet shopping centre).

Brookes graduates are some of the most employable in the country. Its lively multicultural atmosphere ensures that students not only receive high quality degrees but have fun at the same time!
