Housing: Halls usually cheapest. Most first years from 100+ miles in halls. Extensive private sector; check letting agencies and noticeboards.
Eats: Campus food reasonable (but not much choice); meal £1.50+. Student discounts in most town restaurants, meal £3+.
Drink: SU cheapest (£1.65+ a pint). Look out for student nights and promos in town.
Nightlife: Reasonably priced SU events (from weekly club nights to live music nights), recent acts include Kings of Leon (on Radio 1 live tour), Feeder, Ash and Snow Patrol; over 50 clubs/societies including excellent drama soc (Edinburgh fringe).
Locals: Fine, so long as students remain friendly to them.
Sports: University sports centre.
Travel: Easy access to London; regular buses, trains and coaches to Gatwick and Heathrow.
Financial help: Available.
Jobs: SU employs good range of casual staff. Jobs in city and university, terms and holidays. Lots of students work part-time.

Best features: Friendly atmosphere.
