Housing: College halls for first years. Private housing advertised through College, SU, local agencies and newspapers.
Eats: Meals in SU and elsewhere on campus (from £2.50). York, everything at any price; many student discounts available. Drink: SU very friendly and cheap (£1.60 a pint). Yorkshire home of good beer, eg John Smiths.
Nightlife: Theatre Royal, Art House Cinema, 4 clubs including Ikon and Diva.
Locals: Very friendly.
Sports: Gym and astroturf plus other new facilities.
Travel: York mainline, 2 hrs/2/ hrs to London, Edinburgh and Birmingham.
Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition fees) is £3500.
Financial help: Access funds, limited childcare fund, Old John's opportunity fund - all easily accessible.
Jobs: Work on campus outside term-time, lots of local work in cafes, pubs, clubs etc.
Best features: Small, friendly, vibrant.
And worst: Lecturers know everyone so you can't get away with not attending lectures!
