Brunel University - Student View
An expanding university on the outer reaches of West London, ideally situated on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly tube lines but far away from any tourists. University has many 4-year courses with placements (explains the good employment record), plus variety of traditional three-year courses.
Relatively easy to change course if you apply early in your first year (and department has space). Brunel has three sites: Uxbridge, noted for its 60s concrete architecture (and the location of the 70s classic, A Clockwork Orange); Runnymede near Egham in Surrey (famously the location of the St Trinian's films); Osterley with its picturesque location on the bank of the Thames.
SU has 2 bars, 1 evening venue, an excellent and well-resourced information and advice service, 3 catering outlets and a media centre, boasting the student radio station (81000) and magazine (route66). Backbone of the SU is some 100 clubs and societies, offering all students a wide range of funded sports and activities. Great variety of music and entertainment, top comedians from Comedy Network and live bands, plus DJs from Radio 1, etc.
Housing available for all first years on campus. Newer accommodation has extra facilities eg ensuite bathrooms. Most off-campus accommodation is in Hayes and West Drayton.
