Liverpool Hope - Student View
It has two main campuses in leafy Childwall and in Everton; but also hundreds of Hope students studying around the north west.
Childwall just off M62 and around the corner from Hollyoaks (so watch that, to find out what it's like); Everton campus just off city centre. Liverpool public transport pretty good and both campuses are on bus routes. If you're lost, just ask a local or jump in one of the city's many cabs.
Campus accommodation from self-catering at Everton and Aigburth to catered at Hope Park. Liverpool Student Homes helps those who don't want to live in halls to find a reputable landlord.
Range of courses eg teacher training, combined studies with hundreds of combinations; good for exchange opportunities. Students from across the country and the world. College based on Christian foundations but welcomes students of all faiths and fully ecumenical.
Many students have jobs (in SU, college and local shops, restaurants, clubs and bars); need to look quickly as you compete with the other 45,000 students in the city. Some problems in the city but blown out of all proportion by the media; people and sites make up for any bad press.
Bars, clubs, restaurants and historic sights plentiful and city's buzz and atmosphere great. Hope SU is in centre of Hope Park campus; small building with 2 bars, shop, cash machine, computer shop, barber, food outlet and helpful sabbatical officers, volunteers and staff. Entertainment nightly, with special acts throughout the year and 2 annual balls - at Christmas (cheapest around, only £16) and on graduation.
Union not just about fun but also advice on finances, benefits and any other welfare problems. Generally a friendly place with a great atmosphere and good community spirit.
