Founded: From three church colleges (1844 and on).
Site: Main campus at Hope Park in Childwall: second campus Hope at Everton. Network of other colleges across the north west.
How to get there: Liverpool well-served by rail (to Lime Street Station; from Manchester 40 mins, London 3 hours), by road (via M6 or M62), by coach (to City Centre Coach Station), by air (Liverpool John Lennon Airport) and sea (ferries from Dublin and Isle of Man). Everton Campus close to Lime Street station, Hope Park to Broadgreen station.
Academic features: Degree courses in education, theology and religious studies, drama, sports studies.

Length of courses: 3 or 4 years.
Library & information services: Sheppard-Worlock library has 250,000+ items, 700+ print journals, 250+ electronic journals and information sources. Non-book material, satellite & terrestrial broadcasts, music laboratory, sound recording equipment & video edit facilities, wide range of electronic information sources including CDRoms, indexes, abstracts, datasets and research facilities. 600 computers for student use. Annual expenditure on information provision, £37 per (FTE) student.
Study abroad: Exchange links in many subject areas with Europe, America and Asia. Careers: Information, advice, work experience and placements.
Student advice & services: On-campus medical and counselling service; Anglican and Catholic chapels and multi-faith prayer room; 2 chaplains; financial adviser; co-ordinator for students with disabilities; nursery/creche.
Amenities: SU has shop, unisex barber, computer shop and 2 bars. Also refectory, common rooms and cafe.
Sporting facilities: At Hope Park - sports hall, fitness centre & floodlit astro-turf pitch. Facilities for range of sports (five-a-side, badminton, tennis, volleyball, netball, basketball, hockey). Access to squash courts, football and rugby pitches.
Accommodation: All first years who want it are in halls: self-catering study rooms (all ensuite) at £2760 per annum (£2370 sharing), catering package extra; full-board in shared rooms in one hall at £2500 pa. Most students live in privately owned accommodation for 2 years: £50-£60 per week for self-catering.
Living expenses budget: No college-recommended minimum.
Term-time work: College allows term-time work for full-time students (40% believed to work). Work available on campus in SU bars, library & within catering.
Financial help: £410,000 access to learning fund (average award £750); plus £42,500 secondary subject shortage scheme (average awarded £1500). Apply for help to Student Funds office (International Office for overseas students).
Tuition fees: Home students up to £1200 pa for first degrees (in 2005). International students pay £5100 pa.
