St Martin's College Ambleside Campus - Student View

Located on two sites in the heart of the Lake District: Scale How, a large country house with fantastic views; and Kelsick, a short walk away.

Campus incorporates courses in leisure and tourism, teacher training and outdoor studies. It is relatively easy to change course in first term, so long as there is space. Ambleside is a small, friendly town that is popular with tourists.

Public transport is expensive. Most first years live in halls while other students rent accommodation in Ambleside or nearby villages.

The Overdraught Bar is the venue for students but there are many other popular pubs in town. The SU organise trips to nightclubs in the north west and there are often live bands, theme nights and drinks promotions in the Overdraught. The Barn (the SU Friday night venue) and the Overdraught being refurbished and given a huge makeover for holding regular discos and other events.

There are many sports clubs playing in the BUSA league, local leagues and friendly matches. Student-led clubs and societies, many outdoor activity based, are popular and well organised.
