Housing: College halls offer self-catering, fully-catered or semi-catered accommodation. Good range of private sector accommodation (single flats to 6-bedroom houses) rents £45-£70 pw.
Eats: College refectory and snack bar. Pub food and restaurants in Ambleside; many sandwich shops, bakeries and cafes.
Drink: SU bar, The Overdraught (pint £1.60-£2.20) with regular promotions; many pubs in Ambleside.
Financial help: Good grant/loan schemes in place through student services.
Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition fees) is £3000.
Best features: Small and very friendly.
And worst: Too small if you are looking for town life. Definitely bring an umbrella and waterproof.
