Housing: Most non-resident students live in Ormskirk and Southport (ask Accommodation Office). First years in halls (17 mixed, 3 single sex).
Eats: Good value lunchtime snack restaurant and fast food diner on campus (meals £3). Good restaurants and takeouts in town and food in several pubs eg Cafe Bar, Ropers (£3), Bengal Balti (£5).
Drink: College club on campus, cheapest place in town (£1.50 a pint). Favourite haunts - Buck 'I'th' Vine and The Cricketers (numerous happy hours). Town has 16 pubs ranging from wine bars to scruffy and cosy - something for everyone: Railway, Golden Lion, Queen's Head popular. Thwaites, Boddingtons, Greenalls good beers.
Nightlife: Events every night: bands (eg Booze Brothers, Fern Blue), quizzes and discos with top club DJs. Club trips twice weekly. Student discounts at local cinemas.
Locals: Very friendly.
Sports: Lottery-funded sports complex includes all-weather pitches (best facilities in the North West).
Travel: Bus to Southport; train to Liverpool and Preston.
Financial help: Access fund.
Jobs: Limited term-time work in Ormskirk.
Best features: Small, friendly campus.
And worst: Little car parking space.
