Housing: Housing relatively cheap and usually close to campus.
Eats: SU has both a noodle and sandwich bars, nearby there are loads of takeaways and restaurants offering student deals.
Drink: SU bars reasonable with a good selection of cheap bitter/lager. Loads of local friendly pubs with good deals for students; major chains like It's a Scream, O'Neill's and Hogs Head.
Nightlife: SU events are excellent; loads of clubs offering music (alternative, cheese, clubby); also Guildhall, Charter Theatre, cinemas (8 and 10-screen).
Sports: 70 different clubs and societies - there is loads to do. Excellent new university sports complex. Travel: Mainline rail and bus routes.
Financial help: Some.
Jobs: SU job shop (The Bridge) helps find work.
Best features: Friendly close-knit community; fact that you can roll out of bed 15 minutes before your lecture and still not be late!
Worst features: Notoriously wet Preston weather (but don't worry, there is plenty to do indoors).
