Housing: 200 good sized ensuite rooms in halls. Also privately-rented accommodation (mostly checked by Student Services), college-owned houses or lodging with families.
Eats: Canteen OK but pricey. In town, Maidstone Grill (only go when drunk, but then it's good), various pizzas, Mexican and Mongolian restaurants, good Chinese and Indian buffets and takeouts, Nandos etc.
Drink: College bar (£1.50 a pint). In town Drakes (lively student pub on Fridays), The River Bar (£f doubles on Tuesdays, hip hop DJ), trendy wine bars, Weatherspoons (two of them), The Ashes sports bar, and cheap drinks at the Loft on a Friday.
Nightlife: College parties cater for every taste from fancy dress to drum n'bass, bands etc. In town cinema, bars, bowling, comedy club, theatre. The Loft on Fridays is popular (everything with an Indie theme); The River Bar on a Tuesday. Saturdays mostly house or cheese. Limited gay scene; weekly gay night at Basement nightclub.
Sports: Mote Park complex, swimming etc. College football and basketball teams.
Jobs: Many part-time jobs in bars, restaurants, shops, and summer fruit picking.
Best features: Diversity of people, easy access to London.
And worst: Some local bad attitude, expensive housing.
