How to get there: Town easily reached by road and rail (10 miles north of Manchester). Campuses are 10 minutes' walk from bus and train stations.

Length of courses: 2-5 years full-timel sandwich.
Library & information services: 171,000 books, 2600 journals and related materials together with CD-Roms, video cassettes, microfilms, microfiches, audiocassettes; online access to major bibliographic and information databases. Annual expenditure on information provision, £97 per (FTE) student. 548 points with access to library and internee ratio workstations to students 1:10; IT facilities open 24 hours/day. Library and IT support from computer information officers. 1-hour introduction to library and information services for all new students.
Study abroad: Exchanges abroad for students on some degree courses.
Careers: Professional careers advisers offering guidance, counselling and information.
Student advice & services: Specialist staff in counselling, welfare and special needs; also international office and multi-faith service.
Amenities: SU with numerous clubs and societies.

Accommodation: First year students offered places in halls. 700 self-catering places, at £2120 for 40 weeks (Sept-July). Private sector rent £35-£40 per week (plus bills).
Living expenses budget: No institute-recommended minimum (but cost of living relatively low in north west).
