Salford University - Student View

Main campus, Peel Park, 14 miles from Manchester city centre, plus two others (Adelphi and Frederick Road). Strong links with industry (many courses allow for industrial sandwich years in UK or abroad) and good graduate employment record.

Specialises in areas such as engineering, communications and healthcare, modern languages, technology, sociology and media (Adelphi media centre has links with Granada TV and university TV station, Channel M). Relatively easy to change course in first term.

SU runs bars, nightclub, shops, swimming pool, gym, climbing wall, hairdresser, print shop and weekly SU publication, Student Direct. Student advice centre deals with range of problems and welfare issues - academic, international, finance, accommodation, legal and counselling.

SU runs over 50 societies and sports clubs - an activity to suit every taste. Very active LGB group and Salford's very own student radio, Shock Radio. There is a volunteering unit where students get involved with community projects. Friendly atmosphere and a close knit community.
