Housing: Average MBA student spends £375 a month (including electricity).
Eats: Good choice of fairly cheap lunch in MBS canteen; vegetarian choices daily. On the Eighth Day for vegetarian.
Drink: MBS club.
Nightlife: University Theatre, postgrad film society, Royal Exchange Theatre, Halle Orchestra, Palace Theatre (grand opera and ballet), Royal Northern College of Music (just across the road).
Sports: MacDougall Centre (plus swimming pool) within walking distance. Special discount at up-market Y-Club (£4 to enter). Peak District and Lake District close at hand, sailing at nearby Tatton Mere.
Travel: Student travel agent in Oxford Road has good deals.
Jobs: Almost all students do an internship, which can be anywhere in the world; salaries £400-£2000 (average £600 a week).
Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition fees) is £9000 (in uni accommodation), £11,500 (in private accommodation).
Good news: Limited number of MBS scholarships available for applicants on the full time MBA programme.
