Roehampton University - Student View
It's based around four very individual colleges, each with its own history and character: Froebel, Digby and Southlands colleges are on the Roehampton Lane campus; Whitelands 10 mins' walk away.
Set in fantastic green surroundings and bordered by parkland - Wimbledon Common, Richmond Park and Putney Heath - perfect for walking, running, cycling, roller-blading or horseriding. Only a few miles from (and good transport links to) the centre of London, with all that can offer, and close to Kingston, Putney and Richmond which are all great places to shop or just sit by the river with a cold drink on summer evenings.
Teaching takes place in all four colleges. Self-catering accommodation for nearly all first years and some third years: standard varies but all clean and well maintained.
SU has offices at Digby and is active in providing welfare support, finance advice and range of clubs and societies.
Fitness classes in colleges, ranging from aerobics and circuit training to boxercise and martial arts. Impressive number of sports clubs and representatives in national teams of various levels from cycling and rowing to women's rugby.
SU provides plenty of entertainment and activities for all: DJ nights in bars, talent showcase nights, live bands, foam parties, bops, quiz nights etc; balls at Christmas and in summer with eg Jamelia, Lightning Seeds, Tim Westwood, Mis-teeq and Jools Holland.
University has a range of student services, including counselling, accommodation. SU runs individual development project aimed at improving student employment prospects.
