Roehampton University - Student Life

Housing: Some university accommodation; well-organised office helps with off-campus living.

Eats: Not bad in residence; vegetarians catered for. Lots of places to eat outside, and some deliver free.

Drink: 4 bars; prices low for London.

Nightlife: Excellent cheap nights out in local cinemas, clubs, theatres; and all of London.

Sports: Well-established field sports, limited campus facilities. Amateur sport encouraged.

Travel: Trains from Barnes, tubes from Putney and buses to London.

Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each academic year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition fees) is £5000 (in university accommodation), £7000 (in private accommodation).

Jobs: Some jobs on campus (but go quickly); work available in Putney and Richmond. University runs agency for part-time jobs. Hardship fund: Some available.

Best features: Location - friendly and leafy yet a stone's throw from Central London; university and SU have good relations.

And worst: Serious lack of sports facilities on campus.

More info: Contact SU on Tel: 020 8392 3221.

Past students: Ashley Ward (english athletics international), Toby Anstis, Alice Beers and Dan Kitson (second place in Perrier comedy awards).
