Goldsmiths College - Student Life
Housing: College halls. Otherwise, cheap area for London (look on noticeboards). Many live at home.
Eats: Main canteen fine but pricey. SU cafe cheaper. Meal on campus for £2.50+. Immediate area has number of reasonable cafes - greasy spoons to health food cafes - eg Raj Bhojan, Gems Cafe (v. cheap).
Drink: Union bar the cheapest (pint for £1.30-£1.70; £1 in happy hour!), open late some nights. Local pubs reasonable (eg Goldsmiths Tavern, the Hobgoblin) and some open late.
Nightlife: Union has good ents programme (incl Blur, Roni Size, Athlete and Goldie recently). If that isn't enough there are c200 clubs in London; Club Sandwich good.
Locals: Fairly friendly if you are sensible.
Sports: Active athletics union. Sports ground ~ mile away. Practice field and gym at college; also ULU facilities (bit of a trek).
Travel: Tube, train and bus.
Financial help: SU has limited fund for loans and helps explore other sources of money.
Jobs: SU offers part-time jobs and has a job shop. Loads of pubs employ students and plenty of local agencies.
Best features: So close to central London; diversity of students.
And worst: It's not Chelsea!
