Camberwell College of Arts - Student View

Built on 3 sites: the main one on Peckham Road is a sixties monstrosity tacked, rather uncomfortably, onto a beautiful Victorian, purpose-built art school; a prefab sculpture annexe; and an old grammar school. The diversity of the architecture is outdone only by the diversity of the students.

Courses range from digital arts to paper conservation. SU provides opportunities for meeting in a crowded atmosphere to exchange conversations in friendly and inexpensive bar. Regular termly bashes. The number of clubs is growing by the minute.

Accommodation in London is expensive and difficult to find but it is probably easier and cheaper near Camberwell than elsewhere. Being in the capital means almost every type of entertainment is available (at a price). All the courses require hard work, application and self-motivation.

Support facilities, such as the library and media resources departments, are improving - access to other libraries of the university. Most of the staff are highly respected practitioners in their field.
