Royal Veterinary College - Student View

It's split between two campuses: one in central London, Camden Town; the other in rural Hertfordshire, near Potters Bar, Hawkshead. Life at the two campuses is very different.

Camden is a small site, where all the pre-clinical teaching takes place. Inside you will find a hive full of activity with warm, friendly atmosphere. When time allows, students can relax in the common rooms or cafe. On the other hand, Hawkshead is part of a large estate with the surrounding land run by the college farm.

The Students' Union Society (SUS) has a number of facilities here, which include common rooms, a bar, sports fields and a swimming pool. Although it is in the countryside, access into London is very easy. There are regular trains from Potters Bar to London Kings Cross. Both sites have learning resources centres (new at Hawkshead, refurbished at Camden) with 24-hour open-access PCs and state-of-the-art libraries - the two libraries are linked.

The SUS is affiliated to the University of London Students' Union (ULU) and all students can use its facilities in central London. only a short walk from the Camden campus.

As well as undergraduate courses, RVC has a wide range of postgraduate course. The 5 year BVetMed is the principal course and allows entry into the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Studying BVetMed is expensive, no way round it, but cheaper at Hawkshead than Camden. For those wanting to study veterinary subjects who like the idea of a'veterinary village', this is the place for you.
