Oak Hill College - Student View

Purely a theological college, primarily training people for Christian ministry. Although Anglican, increasing numbers are from other denominations and independent churches. For some, a qualification in theological and pastoral studies is an end in itself.

Set in 60 acres of parkland and woods, housed in Georgian mansion and a new academic centre nearby. Expanding library (24/7 access), good bookshop. Excellent relationships with staff (first name basis). Student representation on all committees and also involved in interviewing new staff. Prayer and worship start the day. All students in fellowship groups.

Long-standing links with colleges (exchanges possible) in USA, Africa and Australia (students fundraise for a college in Uganda). Can take courses at Middlesex University and vice versa.

College courses include: biblical studies, doctrine, ethics, sociology, counselling, youth and children's work communication/preaching, church history, apologetics, other religions, biblical languages. Assessments by coursework and/or exam. Varied teaching styles: seminars, lectures, workshops, tutorials, placements in college missions, chaplaincy etc.

London easily accessible, 30 minutes on tube, station one mile away. Families very well catered for: green spaces and playground equipment for children to play, playgroup, babysitting rota. Evening programme for spouses who may also attend lectures free or take the course at half price.
