Nightlife: Union events for all tastes; London on your doorstep with countless cafes, clubs, pubs, bars, eateries, cinemas and theatres.

Locals: A diverse bunch, from students to city types to authentic saaf Laandaners!

Sport: Popular, both for fun and competition. Union gym at Waterloo, hospital gyms at Guy's and St. Thomas'. Travel. Public transport between halls, campus and clinical placements.

Financial help: Hardship fund and certain bursaries available.

Jobs: Available at Union's bars and shops; shifts to suit your timetable. Lucrative hospital guinea pig research work for the right students!

Best features: One of the finest medical and dental schools, part of large, diverse university, in one of the world's greatest capitals.

And worst: London . . . but you can love it.
