Housing: Halls for first years; plenty of houses across both Cheltenham and Gloucester. Accommodation office has list of registered landlords.

Eats: Meal for £2+ on campus. Impressive local variety (price and nationality) eg El Botellino £5 a head.

Drink: Plenty of bars and clubs to pick from. SU bars offer best value (eg 90p a pint for 90 minutes during televised football matches). Frog and Fiddle reasonably cheap.

Nightlife: Plenty of bars and clubs. Park Campus has a late-licence venue on a weekend. Also theatres, music festivals, Town Hall events, art galleries, museums and Cheltenham Racecourse.

Sports: University sports hall, swimming pool and gym in Cheltenham: new sports facility at Oxstalls Campus (Gloucester).

Travel: University runs free bus service between campuses and through town. Financial help: University hardship funds.

Jobs: SU Jobshop helps find part-time work (mostly bar, restaurant, shop and clerical jobs).

Best Feature: A good sense of community making it easy to make friends.
