It prides itself both on giving non-traditional students the opportunity to gain a degree and on its innovation in content and approaches. Majority of students are from working class backgrounds; very high intake of overseas students, so the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. This gives the place a dynamic cultural atmosphere.

Currently three campuses (Barking closing soon). Docklands, the newest university campus in London, is equipped appropriately for the new millennium. All campuses have shops and bars; good to study and socialise.

Despite the financial difficulties shared by all universities, it compensates with high-quality teaching and extremely supportive and understanding staff. Very socially aware and active students' unions, responsible for publishing student magazine Fuel (Best Magazine in 2000 Commission for Racial Equality Awards; two recent Guardian nominations).

University offers wide range of subjects; social sciences, architecture, fashion, cultural studies, arts and media particularly good. Also provides a chance to explore all the highs and lows of London life: West End, with its huge range of entertainment, is only 45 minutes away from any of the campuses.
