Colchester Institute - Student View

Based in historic Colchester, Britain's oldest recorded town, and home to a large army base. Easily accessible by road and rail and only an hour away from London's bright lights!

Colchester site was built in the early 60s with brand spanking new additions (library, art and design block, resource centre and catering block).

The Institute is home to the nationally respected schools of music, art and design; courses cater for a variety of academic needs from GCSE resits to postgraduate degrees. Very easy to change course in first year; helpful student adviser based in each course centre. Fairly relaxed, informal atmosphere across the college, diverse student population, increasingly popular with international and mature students.

The Student Union is based at Colchester, but represented at Clacton. The SU area in Colchester has a bar and common room (with pool tables, fuss-ball, video games), a quiet common room (with unrestricted internet access and an alternative study/social area). It is also home to CISU's many clubs and societies - movie club, art and drama society, pool club, football, DJ soc, Christian Union for starters. Clacton has a student area with IT facilities.

Sports facilities include a multi-gym at Colchester. Diverse range of sports clubs and exercise classes on offer.
