Housing: Most first years housed in halls near campus and walking distance of town and beach. High standard and reasonable private accommodation in town.
Eats: Refectory on campus (respectable food); meal £2-£3. Loads of takeaways in town; most pubs have good food. The Grove, Pitchers, Scoffs good, £2-£4 for full meal.
Drink: SU bar safe and friendly with cheap pints and good entertainments. Over 30 local pubs.
Nightlife: Campus - regular ents in SU bar, Sams; active LGB Soc; termly balls. Sky TV, occasional cabaret and comedian nights. Local clubs, 0-Club, The Shed; scope for student DJs to play.
In Exmouth: 3 screen cinema, night club, fun fayre, theatre. Exeter good for bands and clubs.
Locals: Friendly.
Sports: Pitches, gym and weights room on campus, many societies. Watersports available and good student discounts in town.
Travel: Excellent for hitching to London, the North and Midlands. Buses and trains to Exeter.
Financial help: Lots available; SU for advice.
Jobs: Lots work during term-time (barwork, waitressing, etc). Lots of summer work (pubs, clubs, holiday camps, teaching foreign students).
Best features: Community spirit and fantastic atmosphere.
And worst: Small; can't afford eg big name bands.
