Housing: Plentiful on campus; university accommodation list for housing off-campus.
Eats: £1.70 for all-day breakfast in Guild coffee bar. Wide selection of restaurants and bars serving good food across the city.
Drink: Guild bar cheapest and best - £1+ for a pint.
Nightlife: Ents programme includes regular big name bands and twice-weekly campus nightclub. Cheap arts events and good student theatre. Timepiece and Arena good student clubs.
Locals: Not unfriendly but treat them with respect. The Quay can be dodgy at weekends.
Sports: 2 pools (indoor and outdoor); cheap equipment hire; excellent campus gym, weights and dance studio; all-weather pitches, sailing etc.
Travel: Good road and rail links. Guild travel shop on campus. Improving public transport system; buses linking many areas of town and coastal railway; developing network of cycle paths.
Hardship fund: Access fund (apply early). £50 loans available from Guild as last resort. Guild student advice centre can help find what money is where.
Jobs: Guild job webpage helps students find work on and off campus (mainly bar, waiting, telesales and retail).
Best features: Social atmosphere.
And worst: The hills.
Good news: New medical school jointly with Plymouth University.
