University of Derby - Student View
Split across several sites in Derby and the surrounding area, and new Devonshire Campus in Buxton; rapidly developing and expanding both facilities and courses.
The main campus, Kedleston Road, is on a hill with magnificent views of the countryside from upper floors. All other sites are on major bus routes, with student accommodation nearby. Accommodation ranges from new halls of residence (some with ensuite facilities) to university-approved housing.
The student body is very diverse, with many international and mature students. To accommodate this, university has just completed a multi-faith centre (a beautiful building). Other facilities include a swimming pool and numerous playing pitches for all sports.
SU has its own gym, bars, shops, coffee shop and support centre; also runs a monthly magazine, radio station and up-to-date website, so students always know what's going on. Many sports teams and societies for students to sink their teeth into. SU exists to represent the views of the student within the university as well as to support and entertain them.
Thriving nightlife: SU hosting something every night; city centre has many restaurants, bars, clubs and cinemas (student discount at most outlets).
Students are friendly, not politically active, with a strong community spirit. Very easy to integrate and have a fantastic time.
