Housing: Average price, great architecture, great standard, available for 3 years.

Eats: Meal for £1.70 in college; subsidised formal hall - both with veg option. In town, good selection including curry (£10), bar meals (£6), pizza (£8).

Drink: College bar - good atmosphere and fairly cheap (£1.60 a pint). Lots of pubs nearby.

Nightlife: 2 ents rooms and film society in college, so always have a cheap night out. Footlights (comedy); in town, nightclubs include Ballare, Fez Club, Life. Bands at Corn Exchange and Junction eg Placebo, Reef, Gomez. May Ball in summer.

Locals: OK.

Sports: College playing fields adjacent; tennis, squash, badminton courts; multigym, snooker table etc; swimming off-campus.

Travel: Many travel grants - more for geographers or academic work.

Financial help: Very good; plentiful and accessible - tailored to suit individuals. Book grants for all.

Jobs: Not really available or encouraged in term-time. Plenty of bar/shop work in vacs.

Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition tees) is £4500.

Best features: Great accommodation; history; loads of opportunities.

And worst: Work pressure; lack of clubs.

Good news: Bigger and better bar opened; more ensuite rooms planned.
