Cambridge Selwyn - Student View

Next to the Sidgewick site (arts, law, economics) and University Library and well off the beaten tourist track, it's in a quiet and leafy area of Cambridge, 10 minutes' walk from the centre of town.

Architecture ranges from Victorian neo-gothic to funky 60s. Reputation for being introspective is undeserved, although the college sense of community is strong.

Somehow manages to produce decent results out of students without stopping everyone having fun. But an eight week term means life is pretty intense. Most people reach a stable balance, hence the determined and popular Boat Club, musical menageries, a plethora of societies, parties, Anarchists, Christians, odd slang, friendly Fellows, the best Winter Ball in town, a venerable college magazine, a bar combining chic Ikea-style with student prices, and a library with an entrance out of The Krypton Factor.

Surprisingly forward-looking; a friendly place with character and plenty of fun.
