Housing: College accommodation excellent; quality of local houses for rent is variable. Most live in for 2 years (live out in 2nd year).

Eats: Varied and cheap in hall (meal £3). Formal halls always good. Takeaways close by and fine restaurants in Cambridge.

Drink: Homerton Bar cheap(ish) compared to pubs (£1.90-£2.10 a pint). Great pubs in the vicinity.

Nightlife: Friendly college bar with cheap pool, jukebox, quiz machine; nearby pubs and clubs; Cinema/bowling complex over the road. College has good drama and music groups, steel pan band, large Christian Union, strong les-bi-gay group.

Locals: Accommodating to students. Sports: All form of sports in college and university.

Travel: Pilkington travel award, Erasmus scheme, other bursaries and info.

Financial help: Easily available; range of college and university funds.

Jobs: Not recommended (though not as is commonly perceived forbidden) due to work commitments. Some bar work, babysitting, shop work.

Annual living costs: The minimum amount students say you need to live on each year (covering all living expenses but excluding tuition fees) is £3500 (in college accommodation), £4500 (in private accommodation).

Best features: Friendliness, progressiveness.

And worst: Cost.
