Founded: 1695 in London. Teacher training since 1850; moved to Cambridge in 1894. Became a college of the university in 2001, specialising in education but also offers a full range of university subjects.
Admission: AAA/AAB for most courses; minimum grade B in main subject for the professionally oriented BA in education.
Special features: 3 year BA plus 1 year PGCE for QTS. Instrumental and choral awards.
Library & information services: 65,000 volumes, 300 current periodicals; about 100 study places. Separate IT service, access 24 hours/day; 70 points with access to library and internet. IT support from 3 full-time staff; induction to library and information services on each course.
Other college facilities: Tennis courts, playing fields (soccer and hockey), indoor facilities for squash. Drama studio with theatre facilities. College sick bay on site, with nursing sister; doctor holds regular surgeries.
Accommodation: 95% of first years in college accommodation (some mature students live out), 60% of all undergraduates. 450 places available (350 ensuite), 180 for first years: half-board places at approx £95 per week, term-time only. Most students live in privately owned accommodation for 1 year: £55-£70 pw self-catering, for one year contract.
