Reading University - Student View

It's based on two campuses. Whiteknights is the larger - an attractive campus, with a lake and several acres of protected parkland, and the main Students' Union building at its heart. Bulmershe is the home of the education faculty, about a mile away.

University excels in many areas, including land management, psychology and film & theatre. Also has a fantastic reputation for research and highly regarded lecturers.

Town itself is surrounded by picturesque countryside and has many shops, bars and restaurants. Many of these and a large cinema are in a large retail complex known as The Oracle, which is the focal point of the town with the river running through its centre. University has a diverse mix of students; a friendly community that includes many international students who integrate well with the home students.

There is a wide range of halls to choose from, both catered and non-catered, and each has its own student bar; and there are plenty of private student houses in the campus vicinity. University careers advisory service provides a high level of support and works closely with the Students' Union (RUSU). A wide range of services in RUSU's main building, including a student advice centre, large shop, off-licence, insurance outlet and student travel agency; also three venues, which offer a range of top class entertainments throughout the week.

RUSU is also the main centre for all the sports clubs, many of which compete in the national BUSA league; RUSU also organises a more relaxed programme with competitions for all standards. University sports centre on campus, with a superb gym and facilities for a wide range of activities and classes at student rates. There are many student societies and the Union has a strong equal opportunities policy.
