Mechanical Engineering

There's a range of courses for mechanical engineering, including pure mechanical as well as aeronautical, automotive and manufacturing engineering. Whatever, you'll be looking at many of the same basics, including solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, design, materials, propulsion, electrical drives, control systems, computer modelling, and applied engineering, before specialising in a chosen area.

After graduating, you can work in areas such as the car, boat, construction, oil and gas, renewable energy resources and biomedical industries, or you could move to areas where your expertise and transferable skills will come in handy - IT or the City; perhaps. Either way, the chances are that you won't be on the dole.
