General Engineering

The general engineering course is, naturally, the best general introduction to the subject, a way of getting into engineering without specialising too early. At the start of the course, you can study across the range and then specialise as you go on, graduating in one of the more specific disciplines.

Most MEng courses start with an introduction to engineering for the first two years before moving on to two years of specialisation. It will be based around a core of science, maths and computing skills, the ability to interpret data, written and oral communication, presentation skills, teamvvorking skills and creative approach, as well as the skills of imagination married to practicality, which are essential to the problem-solving which is at the heart of engineering. It's from such a base that you go on to specialise.
