Step 10 - Avoid Future Charges

The easiest way to stop banks ripping you off is not to allow them to issue you with penalty charges in the first place. Don't miss payments, don't use and unauthorised overdraft and don't go for banks you know mistreat people. Soon banks will have to reduce their charges, but in the meantime don't give them the opportunity to make more money out of you.
